Mission: Find an Agent
When I think about next steps for my writing, the search for the right literary agent rises to the top. Not just any agent, but someone who believes in the kinds of stories I write: soft and poetic ones, playful and quirky ones, the ones that come from a child’s world.
I have read enough to know that publishing is about more than just having a finished manuscript. It is about partnership. An agent is not only a door-opener; they are a guide, a champion, someone who knows where your story belongs.
Just yesterday, I finished a new children’s story called Lumie in the Dark. It is about a lamp who discovers something surprising in the shadows of night. I will not say too much yet, but it reminded me of why I write in the first place. Stories can take something ordinary, even a fear, and turn it into light.
So I have started researching. I am looking at agent lists, studying who represents the authors I admire, and noticing what kinds of books they are drawn to. I am paying attention to how they talk about stories and what excites them. I am also in the process of sending query letters to agents, taking those first real steps toward finding the right match.
For now, I am still in the learning stage. But each step feels like moving closer to finding a home for my stories, a place where my stories can finally be read and enjoyed by children and families.
More soon,
