In the Beginning
I’m just getting started in the children’s book world, and I’ve got a lot to learn—but I already know this is where I’m meant to be.
Even though I’m new to the industry, I’ve been writing picture-book stories for years. They live in my head and in my heart. Some are soft and lyrical, others playful or a little quirky. Most begin with a feeling, a moment, or something a child might say or notice.
The truth is, children make me smile. God gave me the gift of seeing the world through their eyes. I understand their curiosity, their questions, their emotions. I especially carry a soft spot for children with disabilities. Their strength, creativity, and perspective truly inspire me.
Writing is another gift I treasure. It’s how I process, imagine, and connect. I write stories that feel classic, but still have something new to say—stories with rhythm, feeling, and heart.
Right now, I’m learning everything I can about how this industry works. How books are made. Who they’re for. What makes a story sing. It’s exciting, humbling, and exactly where I want to be.
If you love children’s books, if you write, if you’re curious about the process—or if you just want to walk alongside someone at the start of their journey—I’d love to have you with me.
More soon,
